Breaking away from conventions many young couples today try out different things at their weddings. These youngsters will do anything to make a change. They do not like to be stereotyped and be labeled as conformists. They like change and this attitude of theirs is reflected in the personal choices they make. Venues are experimented with and church weddings have shown a decline in numbers. Beach weddings and other theme based weddings have become quite popular now. Even the wedding dresses are experimented with now. Long flowing wedding gowns of the bride have been replaced by short and skimpy wedding skirts. The wedding menus are also experimented with and so are the wedding cakes. The traditional white colored wedding cakes have been slowly substituted or supplemented by a wide variety of cakes that are diverse in flavors, design, size and fillings.
Wedding cake cookies are a pleasant variation from the normal wedding cakes. These cookies are also called as Mexican wedding cakes, Swedish tea cakes, Russian tea cakes, pecan balls or pecan sandies depending on the locations concerned. These delightful round shaped cakes are buttery and melt in your mouth. Generally speaking all wedding cookies are nut based and are made of grounded nuts. These nuts could be pecans, walnuts or hazelnuts. The best cookies come loaded with a lot of butter and it is generally assumed that more the butter the more the quality of these cakes.
Wedding cookies are vanilla based mostly and a variation in the flavor will not get the desired results. High-grade butter and vanilla flavor go hand in hand in making these cookies much sought after in any ceremony. For the die-hard traditionalists there is always the option of ordering a small wedding cake that can be cut and eaten by the couple and the rest of the guests can be served these wonderful buttery delights.
