Weddings that are big in size and extravagant in scale are very expensive to conduct. Pompous weddings and flashy wedding day reception ceremonies are on their way out. Not only are these mega weddings expensive to arrange, they are also tiring and stressful. These days, young couples who want to get married prefer small and elegant wedding day ceremonies in place of the big traditional weddings thereby making a huge saving on the marriage expenses. A very informal mood and settings prevail in the wedding ceremonies of today and all unnecessary frills are cut out from the wedding picture. Fast, easy and cost efficient weddings are what young couples prefer today and this preference is also reflected in their choice of the wedding cake.
Small wedding cakes are much better suited for small weddings. If the focus is on a simple but at the same time, very elegant wedding ceremony then small cakes are the best choice. There are a lot of advantages to ordering a wedding cake that is small in size. First is the cost. Smaller cakes are most definitely inexpensive compared to the elaborate big ones. The second is the space factor. The size of the venue where the wedding reception is to be held is also a point to be noted. If the venue is a small hall with a limited number of guests then a smaller cake will do wonders in the optimum use of the available space.
Small cakes are also that much easier to make and this does away with the need to order the cake months in advance. Big cakes with intricate designs need a much longer time to make, so ordering smaller cakes will greatly reduce the waiting time required for big cakes. If the guests are much larger in numbers than the expected, then smaller cupcakes can be served to the guests and the wedding cake can be used just for the formality of the occasion. This is not to say small cakes will take away the sheen from the wedding, as there are plenty of cake makers who can create wonders in design even with cakes that are small in size.
