Flower wedding cakes are one of the most visually appealing cakes among the types of wedding cake designs available today. The aim of every wedding couple is to make their wedding day event quite distinct from others and most remembered by everyone. They undergo a lot of pain to make their wedding day a success. Everyone likes their wedding day to be the best compared to their friends’ or peers’. The dresses they wear on the wedding day, the food at the reception and even the wedding cakes at the wedding all have to be different and better than the others. This is how most of the couples think and act.

There are two types of floral wedding cakes. One is the type in which the wedding cakes are designed and shaped to look like real flowers. The other type is the one in which real flowers are used to give the effect of a natural look. Using fresh and edible flowers as part of the cake decorations has caught on big time recently. However there are quite a few precautions to be taken while using natural flowers as decorations. The main reason for this is that many flowers can be highly toxic and dangerous if consumed by humans.

Some of the flowers that can be dangerous to humans and thus cannot be used as flower decorations on cakes are Arum lily, Hyacinth, Pink carnation, Tulip, Jasmine, Hydrangea and Lily-of-the-valley among others. The flowers that can be used as edible decorations on cakes are Rose, Daisy, Petunia, Orchid and Tiger Lily etc. there are many young couples who go in for unique designs for their wedding cakes. Flower designs on wedding cakes are the choice of the people who want their cakes to stand apart from the rest. Whether one uses artificial flowers or natural edible flowers on their cakes or cakes that are shaped to resemble flowers, one thing is certain, the guests will definitely not forget the flower cake for a very long time.
